 Elizabeth's Biography
Elizabeth was born on the Caribbean Island of Puerto Rico. She is the great, great, great granddaughter to Ramon Power de Giralt. Ramon Power was a lutenent in the Spanish Navy and fought against the blockade of Toron in the campaigns against Napoleon. In 1809 Ramon Power was elected as the first ambassador to Spain for the Caribbean islands and continued with a myriad of adventures until his death in 1813.

plate This was added to the bio for Elizabeth for the purpose of illustrating the impact the islands history has had on her. Having been raised on the coble stone streets of old San Juan, this rich architectural and historic venue served as the backdrop to her upbringing. This also served as a foundation for her historical connection to the islands.

Elizabeth continued to be raised throughout the world. Her father served as Lutenent Col. for the military, and functioned as the head of criminal investigations division in the military working in tandem with the German and French police. As a result her formative years were spent studying fine arts abroad. Being submerged in this rich venue it was the culprit, which led her to pursue her love of painting and composition.

Having worked in oils, acrylics, and mixed media Elizabeth found working with fused glass gave her the lateral freedom she sought. Working within the genres of impressionism and abstract expressionism, she found these best communicated the text and emotions she was trying to convey.

What makes Elizabeth’s work stand apart is her unique approach to fused glasswork. Coming from a painting background she is able to bring to bare the experience of an illustrator and painter and marry this ability with the skills of a fused glass artist.
